AIKEN — In a couple of hours with the Aiken Department of Public Safety, I fulfilled a childhood dream and got a dose of not only firefighting and crime fighting but also humility. Rather than do the originally planned ride-along, Sgt. Aaron Dowdy took me to the training facility, where I’d be suiting up in police and fire gear and completing a couple of exercises. (more…)
