COLUMBIA — The man convicted of setting a fire at a South Carolina hotel that killed six people in 2004 wants a federal judge to set aside his conviction because his attorneys made mistakes at his trial.
Acting as his own attorney, Eric Preston Hans said in a motion filed Thursday his defense team should have objected to government evidence he said misled jurors. He said they also should have called on their own expert witnesses to rebut the government’s arson theory. (more…)
