Woman Charged with Arson
PICKENS COUNTY — A woman is charged with second-degree arson after a house fire in Pickens County earlier this month.
Doni Faith Hale Miles is in custody this morning at the Pickens County Detention Center in lieu of a $7,500 surety bond, according to a Pickens County Sheriff’s office statement.
After an investigation conducted by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, it was determined that Miles had intentionally set fire Aug. 3 to the house at 314 Chandler Road in Dacusville, where she lived with her husband, Wayne Miles. (more…)

Firefighter Training Event
SPARTANBURG — Firefighters from across Spartanburg County began a three-day training event Tuesday at the Montgomery Building downtown. The City of Spartanburg fire department invited firefighters throughout the county to attend the exercise, which includes searching a high-rise, practicing incident command skills, and rescuing firefighters in trouble. Woman and Twin Sons Die in House Fire
CHARLESTON – A woman and her twin sons were killed in a house fire late Tuesday in West Ashley. Firefighters were called to the home at 1918 Greenpark Ave. at 9:09 p.m., said Mark Ruppel, spokesman for the Charleston Fire Department. There was damage to the kitchen area and heavy smoke throughout the house, Ruppel said. (more…)

Fatal Wreck on Hwy 61; Drivers Say Route is Treacherous
CHARLESTON — Allison Cunningham said she still likes to give her husband a hard time for choosing a house in West Ashley without first test-driving Ashley River Road, the two-lane highway she uses on her commute to downtown Charleston. Fatal Shooting Scene Destroyed by Fire
LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. — Laurens County deputies are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a home where a man was fatally and a woman was wounded Friday night. One of two men suspected in that shooting is still on the loose. According to Laurens County Sheriff Ricky Chastain the man is Gerard Mosley. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Services responded to the fire at about 3:15 a.m. Tuesday at 61 Brewster Road in Laurens.(more…)

Police Seek to Identify Burned Body
AIKEN — The Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office are asking for public assistance in identifying a woman whose burned body was discovered in a field on Storm Branch Road two weeks ago. The woman died on Aug. 11, but investigators still have been unable to link her to a missing persons case and have not heard from the woman’s next of kin. (more…)

Early Morning Wreck Kills One
HORRY COUNTY — The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened about 5:30 Tuesday morning near Green Sea at the intersection of Green Sea highway, S.C. 410 and S.C. 646.
Horry County Assistant Coroner Tony Hendrick responded to the scene and said Madison Hall Elliott, 35, from Green Sea, was killed in the one-car crash when his car left the roadway. Elliott died from blunt force trauma, Hendrick said.
Cpl. Paul Brouthers with the Highway Patrol said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt when his vehicle ran off the road. (more…)

CHARLESTON – 2 children and 1 adult were pulled from a raging fire at 1918 Greenpark Drive in West Ashley. All 3 were in full arrest when transported.
Firefighters on the scene quickly brought the fire under control.
St. Andrews Fire Department has E301 E302 E303 R301 C301-IC on scene. They received mutual aid from the Charleston Fire Department with E116 E119 E112 E111 T105 and multiple chief officers on scene.

Couple Charged in House Fire
JEFFERSON — A young couple that was living in a $600,000 house when it was destroyed by fire in May has been charged with arson in the case, Monroe police say. Andrew William Currie, 26, and his wife, Carmin Colette Currie, 25, were arrested Monday at the latest residence, on Sandhill VFD Road in Jefferson, S.C. They were charged with fraudulently burning a dwelling and felony conspiracy. (more…)

Ex-FF to Spend Five Years in Prison
BEAUFORT — A former firefighter charged with starting a series of blazes in 2007 and 2008 in Palmetto Bluff that caused more than $1.4 million in damage was sentenced to five years in prison Monday.
Bryan Yeager, 24, of Beaufort pleaded no contest — which means he does not admit guilt but will not challenge arson and other charges — one day before his trial was set to begin at the Beaufort County Courthouse. The fires included one in 2008 that burned down a partially built house in Palmetto Bluff. (more…)

FORT MILL — Rain or shine, Homer’s Heroes Challenge Tug-of-War was going down. At stake were bragging rights for men who help keep Fort Mill safe. Fire Damages Golf Course Trailer
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH — Fourteen firefighters extinguished a mobile home fire in North Myrtle Beach Friday afternoon, according to officials on scene.
Nicole Aiello, spokeswoman for the City of Myrtle Beach, said North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue was dispatched to 2400 Metts Dr. at 3:41 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found a double-wide trailer on fire at the Azalea Sands Golf Course. (more…)

BLUFFTON — Friday’s thunderstorms also led to the postponement of the football game between rivals Hilton Head Island and Bluffton high schools, scheduled Friday on the island. It will be played today at 7:30 p.m. at Hilton Head Island Community Stadium. A roof fire likely caused by lightning Friday night led to the evacuation of the Golden Corral restaurant in Bluffton — one of several emergency calls during a heavy storm that sent firefighters scrambling.
