DARLINGTON — On Friday, the Darlington County Fire District conducted its second of two fundraising drives to benefit children. Unattended Candle Believed To Be Cause Of Fire
ANDERSON — Marcus Woodward picked through charred debris in his family’s home Saturday while searching for his great-grandmother’s Bible. “Everything is gone,” Woodward said with a despondent sigh as a chilly drizzle fell. The home at 126 Cresta Verde Road in Anderson where Woodward lives with his mother and stepfather was heavily damaged by a fire Friday night. (more…)

Man Leaps From Second Story To Avoid Fire
GREENVILLE — A man jumped from the second story of an apartment complex to escape a blaze Sunday night, firefighters said.
The fire happened at Springwood Apartments on Sulfur Springs Road about 10 p.m.
Firefighters said that man leaped from the unit where the fire started, but was not seriously hurt. They said four people were taken to a local hospital to be treated. (more…)

FF’s Find Body In Burned Home
GREENVILLE — Firefighters who responded to a structure fire Friday morning found a body inside the rental unit.
The Belmont Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 4 Clearview Ave. in Greenville off Old Augusta Road just after 10:30 a.m.
Firefighters called the Greenville Sheriff’s Office after finding the body. (more…)

Cars Paid For By Taxpayers Torched
ANDERSON COUNTY — The Anderson County Fire Department is investigating the burning of several Department of Health and Environmental Control vehicles in a fenced parking lot.
At about 4:40 a.m. Saturday, Anderson County firefighters responded to a report of a fire at the regional DHEC office at 2514 E. River St. The flames were spotted by an EMS crew returning from a call.
Firefighters found three cars and two pickup trucks destroyed and a boat damaged. (more…)

Early Morning Fire Destroys Home
WEST PELZER — A West Pelzer-area home was destroyed by a fire Thursday morning that did not cause any reported injuries. Authorities were called shortly before 7 a.m. to 116 Whippoorwill Lane off Bryant Road slightly north of West Pelzer town limits. The mobile home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, said Capt. Dale Mahaffey of the West Pelzer Fire Department. (more…)

Blaze Damages Hollywood Home
HOLLYWOOD – Fire ripped through a home in the 4000 block of Tattersall Lane in the Stono Ferry neighborhood.
Firefighters pulled up to a two story, wood frame house that was heavily involved with fire and dense smoke. The blaze was quickly brought under control but not before the front was left blackened and a hole ripped in the roof.
EMS was on scene and checked on one firefighter for minor injuries. They were later released.
No one was inside the home at the time of the blaze.
The Arson Squad is investigating but at this time they have no indication as to what started the fire.
PD Responds to Suicide Call at Apartment of ex-Fire Captain Accused of Arson
BLUFFTON – Beaufort County sheriff’s officers were dispatched Tuesday night to the apartment of a former Bluffton Township Fire District captain accused of burning down his house in 2008. Pairman had told a friend he was considering suicide, McIntosh said, and the friend called county dispatch. When officers arrived, Pairman refused to leave the apartment or let anyone in. (more…)
Fire Guts Goose Creek Home
GOOSE CREEK – Fire gutted a home at 202 Beverly Drive this afternoon leaving a family homeless just before the Holiday Season.
Goose Creek Rural Firefighters arrived at the address with heavy smoke pouring from the 1 story brick dwelling. The alarm time was about 1:50 are at the scene of a fully involved house fire. (more…)
