9:49am - SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY UNTIL 10:30 A.M. PLACES IN THE PATH OF THE STORM INCLUDE: GOURDIN, KINGSTREE, CADES, LAKE CITY, NEW HOPE, and INDIANTOWN.
9:41am – This tornado is worst than the April 8, 1998 EF-5 that followed a similar path. Only 32 people died then. Death toll in Alabama at 128 and expected to climb. The tornado never lifted from Tuscaloosa to Fultondale, AL, some 63 miles, and then lifted only briefly. Site built homes totally off the foundation, massive timber damage in East Tuscaloosa County. The tornado track started in Mississippi and continued into Georgia.
