For the person asking questions about why they are blowing there air horns,Thats to let all firefighters Know to evacuate the building. Means an interior attack is no longer safe
Also to the Gentleman saying drafting from the river will freeze the pumps, Thats not the case. As long as there is water flowing thru the lines and the pump it is fine….River drafting is a common practice from where I live. And I assure you its prolly colder here then in NY.
