Arrest Made in 2009 Church Arson

BENNETTSVILLE – The Bennettsville Police Department has made an arrest in connection to a burglary and arson at a local church in 2009. Lt. Larry Turner with the Bennettsville Police Department said officers have arrested Jarrod Demario Hicks, 19, of Bennettsville and more arrests are possible.

Autopsies Indicate Smoke Inhalation

LORIS – Preliminary autopsy results show that an Horry County man and his two grandsons died from smoke inhalation in a house fire, Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick said. Hugh Elliott, 85, a World War II veteran, and his grandsons, Austin Daniel Elliott, 9, and Conner Lynn Elliott, 7, died from asphyxiation from carbon monoxide. Former Georgia FF Indicted on 8 Charges of Arson

LAFAYETTE, GA – A former volunteer firefighter who was arrested in December 2010 for a slew of arsons in LaFayette, Ga., was indicted today on eight counts of arson. The Walker County grand jury indicted 34-year-old Melvin Chase in connection with a series of fires from 2005 to 2010, said LaFayette Police Sgt. Stacey Meeks.

Grandfather, 2 Brothers Killed in Fire

LORIS – The names of the victims in Wednesday morning's fatal mobile home fire in Loris have been released. 85-year-old Grandfather Hugh Elliott, and Brothers Austin Daniel Elliott – 9, and Conner Lynn Elliott – 7 were killed in the tragic blaze at 3540 Lake Pond Road.

Augusta Narrows List Of Candidates For Vacant Fire Chief Position

Anderson County Line of Duty Death

PENDLETON – 63-year-old David Crenshaw, a veteran Firefighter and former Anderson County Sheriff, died this morning at a traffic accident. The 50+ year veteran responded to the scene of an accident at Highway 88 & Porter Road and was assisting EMS when he collapsed at the pump panel of a fire engine. Crenshaw was taken to AnMed Health where he was pronounced dead at 7:55 am.

Anderson County Fire Chief Billy Gibson says Crenshaw was a founding member and served with the Pendleton Volunteer Fire Dept since 1962. He had been the Pendleton Fire Chief for 21 + years.

Firefighter Talks After Drunk Driver is Given Tougher Charge

GOOSE CREEK – Mixed emotions come to mind when Mike Althoff thinks of the car accident that changed his life. Woman Accused of Hitting Firefighters Charged with Felony DUI

GOOSE CREEK – A woman who arrested on DUI charges in October is now facing upgraded charges. Court records show Jessica Lanier was booked again Thursday night around 10:30pm for an additinal charge of felony DUI with great bodily harm.

Busy Spartanburg Intersection Closed, Tanker On Its Side Leaking Fuel

SPARTANBURG – An overturned gas tanker truck leaking fuel has prompted officials in Spartanburg to shut down a busy intersection Friday afternoon.

Spartanburg County Dispatch tells 7 On Your Side all lanes have been shut down at Southport Road and John B. White Boulevard.

4-year-old Killed in House Fire

DENMARK – The Bamberg County Coroner, Billy Duncan has identified the 4-year-old girl killed in this morning's house fire as Janae Greggs. The fire started around 1 a.m. at a mobile home on Cotton Street. That's off Church Street, near Whaley Street. When crews arrived on the scene, the structure was fully engulfed.

8-year-old Boy Gives Savings to Family That Lost Home in Fire

SUMMERVILLE – For all of his eight years, Fischer Cook of Knightsville has saved his money. His allowance for chores, such as making his bed and organizing his room, went right into his savings account. Cash his parents, Michelle and Tony Cook, gave him for good grades also went into that account, as did birthday money. By early December, Fischer had $300 in the bank… that was all about to change. 14-year-old Arrested for Nunan St. Fire

Charleston Police have arrested a 14-year-old juvenile male for the December 28th fire at 13 Nunan Street which damaged two adjacent buildings and three vehicles.

The juvenile is charged with 3rd degree arson, three counts of malicious injury to personal property and three counts of malicious injury to real property.

He is being held in the Juvenile Detention Center. About 9:55 a.m., police and fire officials arrived at 13 Nunan Street and found the building on fire. The fire damaged buildings at 11 Nunan Street and 15 Nunan Street. The fire also damaged three vehicles.

The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes. These fires are not related to the peninsula area suspicious fires.

Old Fort FF’s Work Structure Fire

SUMMERVILLE – Old Fort's Bravest battled a structure fire at 113 Walnut Ct East off of Hwy.61. Grant Mishoe, Editor for SConFire.com, was first on scene only minutes after the initial dispatch. Mishoe stated "The fire had a good head start when I arrived on scene. There where fuel cans popping off and a large column of black smoke." He went on to say, "I was worried about the main house catching. There was smoke already coming out of the roof vent on the top… it was very hot".

Rock Hill Man Dies in House Fire

ROCK HILL – Ronnie Joe Wylie spent his days working odd jobs.He was a mechanic, a construction worker, a painter, a landscaper, a "jack of all trades," his sister Janice said.During evenings, friends and neighbors would gather at his house off Neely Road in Rock Hill to play checkers on the porch, tell jokes and pitch horseshoes in the back yard. Large Fire Destroys Displaces 7 North Charleston Families

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The North Charleston Fire Department responded to a massive structure fire in the area of Rolling Fork Road on Tuesday. It was a fire that forced several families out of their homes on one of the coldest days of the year.

Wife of Charleston Radio Talk Show Host Richard Todd Passes Away

CHARLESTON – Mary Todd, the wife of radio talk show host Richard Todd, passed away this morning after surviving more than three years of cancer and treatments. "Even through her illness at the very end, she wanted to put her son first," says John Quincy, producer of Richard Todd's Morning Buzz show on 1250 WTMA. FF Injured in Rollover MVA

CHERAW – A South Carolina firefighter and four other people were injured in a crash Saturday near Cheraw. The truck flipped over on Camp Coker Road near Highway 52 at about 3:30 Saturday. Troopers said the Harris Creek Volunteer firefighter, who was responding to a fire call, was taken to the hospital.
